Odyssey Design Co.

Brand & Identity, Collateral Materials, SWAG

Project.

At the commencement of my senior campaign course, the class was divided into four teams, each to function as our design team for all client projects. Each team's mission was to craft a brand identity that not only reflected the team itself but also celebrated the diverse group of individuals within it. Subsequently, this distinctive branding would serve as our visual signature when engaging with clients, allowing us to prominently showcase the unique attributes that set our group apart from others.

Solution.

Engaging in early discussions within our team proved instrumental in fostering familiarity and uncovering shared values that resonated with all of us. Subsequently, each team member did research, seeking a fresh approach for our collective identity, culminating in the name "Odyssey Design Company." The choice of "Odyssey" stemmed from its definition as "a long and eventful or adventurous journey or experience." Our finalized design incorporated paths, symbolizing the journey toward discovering adventure and optimal solutions.

  • Guiding us in our early stages towards finding the right need, hearing the clients wants is an important step in connecting to our client and the first glimpse into the project. At this early stage our creative team is commonly faced with understanding our clients wants and determining whether this is truly what they need.

  • The client needs are what encapsulates the project and leads it down the right path. At this stage our team dissects all the information gathered to truly figure out what the needs of the client are. This is done by asking questions and looking deeply at the information gathered.

  • At the center point of this logo is our team’s collective creative goals. This is where we find the overarching goal of a brief and state what we need to achieve during the project before it fully begins.

  • Right next to the collective creative goals I display the 4 art directors creative strengths representing the four creative members on our team.

  • Moving from our individual creative strengths, we do a diverse amount of research and ideation towards how to solve our client’s problem.

  • Taking all of the research done throughout the project and choosing the best ideas to solve the problem leads us to the team’s final direction which meets the clients needs.
